Captivated by the concept of food security, Vanessa’s desire to make an impact led her to Royal Roads. During her time here, she completed an internship at a seed bank in northern India that produces open-pollinated seeds for local farmers. Since then, she has made it her mission to cultivate awareness of food security in her community, engaging members to save seeds in order to maintain crop diversity for future generations.

During his time at Royal Roads, Sam gained a new sense of purpose when he realized, “I can actually do more in life and make a difference in the world”. He has been aiding others ever since. His most recent efforts have taken him to Jordan where he engaged with Syrian refugee families in their final stages of resettlement to Canada—inspiring hope for a better life in their new home.
